Owner
Enjoys the quiet and patient work of fine pruning with quality tools and scientifically-proven techniques. Tan loves to assess and triage what plants truly need to be healthy and happy, while toeing a fine line with training and pruning for ultimate health. They are skilled at training, renovating and/or rejuvenating young, established, overgrown, malpruned (ugh shearing!) or injured trees and shrubs in a way and blends artistic vision, cultural techniques, and science as the perfect trifecta.
Tan believes gardening is for all bodies, minds, and abilities. Whether you’re a guerrilla gardener tossing seeds in an undeveloped lot, veggie-growing on your balcony, or fine pruning a beloved 100 year old Japanese Maple in a botanical garden, let Tan be your guide.

Milo Wazny - He/They
Lead Garden Designer
Milo is a Certified Professional Horticulturist who started landscaping at age 12 in rural Indiana. Now 27, he has spent the interim years in numerous positions that have expanded his perspective of the Green Industry: as a Conservation Ecologist, a Residential Project Manager, a Botanical Groundskeeper, a Carpenter specializing in green roofing and building envelope, and now, as the Lead Designer at Urban Earth Gardens! Milo's goal is to participate in shifting public perspective towards an understanding that the projects worth doing are the ones that outlive us; and that existing at all is an allowance of a natural system that must be thoughtfully preserved. He likes traveling with his partner, studying for fun, and eating too fast too often.

Tommy Blackwell - He/They
Gardener
Moved to Seattle in 2024 after completing a Bachelor of the Arts at Evergreen State and a Permaculture Design Certificate through OSU. Nature has been a constant passion of theirs, having grown up near wildlife trails and contributing to restoration projects. While living in Olympia, Tommy worked summers farming or landscaping and grew their home collection at every chance; hosting potting parties and gifting propagations when the horde became unruly. They are delighted to be working with the Urban Earth Nursery crew sharing their love and knowledge for all things plants.
